According to article 12 of the PYRO Directive, pyrotechnic articles (e.g. fireworks) sold to EU consumers must be adequately labelled in the country's official language(s) in which they are sold. The labelling of such products must include, as a minimum:
- CE marking symbol
- The name and address of the manufacturer
- The name and address of the importer if the manufacturer is not established in the EU
- Instructions for use
- The designation, category and type of the pyrotechnic article
- The minimum age limits
- Net explosive content (NEC)
- Minimum safety distances (where appropriate)
- For sparklers, the following statement "Warning: Not to be given to children under five years of age."
- For categories 2 and 3 and, where appropriate, for category 1, the warning "For outdoor use only."
- For category 3 articles, the year of production
- For category 4 articles, the statement "For use only by individuals with specialist knowledge."
If a pyrotechnic article has insufficient space for the above-stated labelling information, the information should be provided on the smallest retail packaging.

- CE marking symbol
- The name and address of the manufacturer
- The name and address of the importer if the manufacturer is not established in the EU
- Safety instructions for use.
