As a recreational craft and/or personal watercraft manufacturer, you need to make sure your product is labelled correctly before selling it on the EU market. The labelling must include the following details:
- Conformity identification marking (e.g. CE marking)
- Where applicable, the identification number of a notified body
- Name, registered trademark and address of the manufacturer
- Unique serial number
- Where applicable, the name, registered trade name and postal address of the importer.
In Addition, each watercraft must be marked with an identification number containing the following information:
- Country code of the manufacturer
- Unique code of the manufacturer assigned by the national market authority
- Month and year of production
- Model year.
Eeach watercraft must also carry a permanently attached plate containing at least the following information:
- Contact details of the manufacturing company (e.g. name, registered trade name, address)
- CE marking symbol
- Watercraft design category
- Maximum recommended load
- Number of persons for which the watercraft was designed
- Where applicable, identification number of a notified body.
Lastly, regarding propulsion engines, the following information must be clearly marked on the engine's surface:
- Contact details of the manufacturing company (e.g. name, registered trade name, address)
- CE marking symbol
- Engine type and engine family, where applicable
- A unique engine serial number.
